Do the research. Don't vote for a familiar name or by ethnicity or race. Vote by qualification, as you would for any employee placement. Likability shouldn't be the reason you vote for anyone.

Joe’s opinion of: “This Explains it"
I believe the reason many voters elect lawyers to public office is threefold. One: lawyers study speaking in law school. They learn to communicate at various levels, so the listener can understand regardless of their education. Two: to the lesser financially successful voter, lawyers are liked. Lawyers represent their only chance of ever having any wealth; trough a successful (usually insurance) settlement. Three: Lawyers are practiced liars. They promise the voters anything to win, as they are taught to do as part of their schooling.
Conservatives make the mistake of using college level language and end up not getting their point across to the masses. Many voters don’t understand or misunderstand, so they just tune them out. Businesspeople have not been through college classes that teach lying and cheating – anything to win – as curriculum. Businesspeople know that honesty is a requirement in building a successful business.
I have tried many times to discuss the conversation of a conservative politician with a voter who quickly discredited that politician. Frequently it was obvious to me the voter didn’t understand the point and didn’t want to say so.
